For parents and carers

  • Find your closest Flying Start service

This tool helps you find services that have partnered with the South Australian Government to deliver 3-year-old preschool from 2026.
  • Give your child a Flying Start with 3-year-old preschool

From 2026, families across South Australia will start gaining access to a new teacher-led 3-year-old preschool program. The program is designed to help every child build confidence, curiosity and the skills they need to thrive in learning and in life.
  • Roll-out of 3-year-old preschool

Universal 3-year-old preschool will be introduced in stages between 2026 and 2032. The number of services offering 3-year-old preschool will grow from 2026 as we build our workforce and more early childhood infrastructure.
  • Supporting your child to grow and learn

A great early childhood experience helps with building language and concepts, making friends and treating others well, our physical health and skills, and enhancing a strong sense of culture and belonging.
  • Free child health and development checks

Free health and development checks, including age-appropriate screening activities, are available for children from birth to 5 years living in South Australia.
  • Extra support for children who need it most

The Office for Early Childhood Development is introducing integrated hubs to bring preschool together with other health, wellbeing and education offerings so families and children can be supported to access the services they need in one place.
