Description

Connect.Ed provides outreach-based Developmental Education support within early childhood education and care (ECEC) settings, working alongside educators to strengthen inclusive, neurodiversity-affirming practice.

Developmental Educators support small groups of children within everyday play and learning experiences, focusing on skills that support engagement and school readiness. This includes attention, communication, social interaction, emotional regulation, problem-solving and adaptive skills.

Support is embedded within the existing preschool program and aligned with the Early Years Learning Framework. Sessions are play-based, developmentally appropriate and delivered within natural routines.

A key focus is building educator confidence and capability. Practitioners work alongside educators during sessions, modelling strategies, adapting environments and providing in-the-moment coaching.

This approach strengthens outcomes for children while building sustainable capability within the service, supporting inclusive practice beyond practitioner involvement.

How this is delivered

Developmental Education support is delivered within early childhood education and care (ECEC) settings using an outreach, educator-embedded model.

A qualified Developmental Educator attends the service and works alongside educators within the learning environment.

Delivery typically includes:
  • Small-group sessions embedded within everyday play, routines and learning experiences
  • Session duration of approximately 60 minutes
  • Delivery in blocks (e.g. weekly or fortnightly across a term or agreed schedule)
  • In-the-moment educator coaching during sessions, including modelling and shared implementation
  • Environmental and routine adjustments (e.g. visual supports, transition strategies)
  • Family communication and shared strategies where appropriate

Support is flexible and can be delivered in-person, online, or via a hybrid model.

This approach ensures strategies are embedded into daily practice, building educator confidence and supporting sustainable, inclusive outcomes beyond practitioner involvement.
