Description

Your Best Self Allied Health's Speech Pathology in Preschool Program focusses on developing children's speech, language and communication skills through small group-based sessions. Speech pathologists work with small groups of children at a time, using a neurodivergent-affirming, strengths-based approach to develop age-appropriate social communication, speech and language skills, as well as developing early literacy skills essential for classroom success.

By implementing an evidence-based approach to speech and language, this program aims to:
  • develop age-appropriate speech and language skills
  • develop children’s social communication skills, with a focus on skills essential for cooperative play, friendship development, and effective communication of thoughts, needs and emotions
  • develop early literacy skills essential for success in preschool settings and beyond and
  • implement a play-based, neurodivergent-affirming approach in developing these skills.

Expected outcomes of this support include:
  • Improved language and communication skills, with a focus on social communication.
  • Improved use and understanding of verbal and non-verbal communication with peers.
  • Improved interest in literacy engagement and development of early literacy skills.
  • Improved articulation of speech (speech sounds production).
