Description

We focus on building functional communication skills in natural, meaningful contexts. Children are supported to develop expressive and receptive language, social communication, emotional vocabulary, and confidence engaging with peers. Rather than using structured, pull-out therapy, strategies are embedded into everyday routines such as play, group time, transitions, and shared book reading, allowing children to practise skills where they are most relevant.

Expected outcomes:
  • Children will develop a strong sense of self and social awareness.
  • Children will develop coregulation and regulation of their emotions.
  • Educators and families will value their positive role and support children’s emotional development through their availability, presence, mindfulness, observations and attention.
  • Through the safe environment created by their families and educators, children will strengthen their capacity to explore and learn.

How this is delivered

Service delivery will be tailored to suit the needs of the ECEC, children and families. Type, duration, number and frequency of sessions will be determined in collaboration with the Educators /Leadership to clarify their identified needs or concerns and determine the best service delivery approach. Examples include Group based sessions – tailored to suit children’s needs. May be focused on developing imaginary play skills, social skills, motor development, cognitive skills, sensory processing and/or emotional regulation. Educator coaching / consultation– tailored to suit educators’ needs. May include identifying needs and working collaboratively to implement strategies to strengthen Educators understanding and confidence to support children’s emotional regulation, sensory processing and development across a range of skill areas. Family coaching or workshops – tailored to suit families’ needs. Working collaboratively to strengthen families understanding and confidence to support children’s emotional regulation, sensory processing and development across a range of skill areas.
