Description

Glenelg Allied Health Clinic will provide group-based speech pathology supports for strengthening communication, early literacy, participation, and mealtime skills through play-based, neuroaffirming practice.

Delivered by qualified speech pathologists, the program works in close collaboration with educators and service leadership to build sustainable, inclusive practices. The program targets language development, phonological awareness, social interaction, emotional regulation, and feeding/mealtime participation. Strategies are embedded within everyday routines and play-based learning, ensuring alignment with educator-led programs and promoting consistency for children.

A key focus is capacity building. Educators are supported through modelling, coaching, and reflective discussions to confidently implement evidence-informed strategies across the week. Families are also engaged through group education and coaching to strengthen communication and mealtime support at home.

Expected outcomes include:
  • Growth in speech, language, communication and early literacy skills
  • Children engage with others in ways reflecting their communication styles and are supported to recognise and navigate emotions using tailored strategies
  • Educators embed intentional, evidence-informed strategies into daily routines
  • Educators create inclusive environments supporting social interaction, communication and emotional wellbeing

How this is delivered

Supports are delivered in structured 10-session blocks, with weekly or fortnightly onsite sessions incorporating classroom-based group intervention alongside collaborative coaching with educators and families. Goals for each 10-session block are tailored to the childcare setting’s needs and priorities, forming the basis for targeted intervention outcomes.

We use practical, evidence-informed measures to monitor children’s development and guide intervention focus.

Each block includes collaborative goal setting, mid-block review, and end-of-block reflection and re-screening to monitor progress and inform next steps.

Ongoing coaching and practical, embedded strategies ensure that skills and approaches are generalised and sustained beyond the intervention period within everyday routines.

Cost

The 10-session block is delivered for $290 per session or $2,900 per block. This includes 10 group sessions, educator capacity building, opportunities for family coaching, program planning and documentation. If travel is required, this will be charged based on location at $96 an hour.
