Description

Our psychology service supports children’s social, emotional and behavioural wellbeing by embedding psychologist?led support within everyday preschool routines. Psychologists focus on the developmental, emotional and behavioural foundations that influence children’s participation, learning and readiness for school within your setting.

Support is informed by the needs of autistic and neurodivergent children, while remaining developmentally appropriate for all children aged 3-5 years and aligned with typical early childhood social and emotional development. The service is delivered through group?based strategies, in?context modelling, and coaching for educators, as well as consultation and collaboration with families.

Rather than working in isolation with individual children, psychologists operate at a group and systems level to strengthen emotionally safe, predictable and inclusive environments. By building educator confidence in developmentally informed, trauma?aware and inclusive approaches, the service supports reduced developmental vulnerability and contributes to improvements across the AEDC domains of Social Competence, Emotional Maturity and Physical Health and Wellbeing.

Psychology support also promotes stronger partnerships between educators and families, encouraging shared understanding of children’s emotional and behavioural needs and consistent responses across home and early learning settings.

Expected outcomes include:
  • Improved emotional wellbeing, regulation and participation in group routines for children
  • Reduced distress?based behaviours through emotionally safe, predictable environments
  • Increased educator confidence responding to social and behavioural needs
  • Stronger family–educator consistency supporting children across home and preschool settings
