Description

A Guiding Pathways DE can support educators build the social, emotional and the daily practical skills a child needs to be Preschool ready. The approach includes the following:
  • Supporting educators to understanding development and when skills are not tracking within typical skills for their age.
  • Opportunity for educators to ask questions or share their experiences including situations they find difficult to manage or understand
  • Direct support, modelling the strategies for educators with the children.
  • Providing support and feedback for educators as they practice these strategies and skills.
  • Providing user-friendly visual resources that address the developmental skill gaps or goals.
  • Separate training sessions for educators or families which can include, understanding what is expected at different ages across social, emotional and daily living skills case studies implementing therapeutic strategies.

  • Knowing what is typical in child development across social, emotional or practical daily skills as well as indicators for developmental delays.
  • Knowing how to build skills related to different types of developmental delays.
  • Being able to develop and teach practical daily living skills needed to navigate the Preschool setting.
  • Being able to tailor a play-based curriculum to address social and emotional delays.
  • Recognising when to refer on for specialised intervention.

How this is delivered

  • Tailored content and approach depending on site's concerns and capacity.
  • Initial consultation to understand specific concerns and needs, followed by tailored advice and recommendations.
  • Support can include training sessions, resource development, observations, modelling and feedback.
  • Delivered by a Developmental Educator, in person or telehealth.

Cost

*Services are provided at an hourly rate of $232.99* *Total cost dependent on the sites needs and time taken* *A quote can be provided following initial consultation.* *Travel charged at hourly rate for travel to the site, as well as a non-labour travel charge of 0.99 per km*

Services support children, families and educators with strategies related to regulating emotions, social skills, attending or transitioning to education sites, building independence, developing confidence and resilience, and teaching foundational skills for developmental growth.
