  • increased confidence and capability of parents and educators to identify and support motor development
  • inclusive environments that enhance access and movement
  • maintained mobility with pain and discomfort well managed and
  • improved overall wellbeing.

How this is delivered

Physiotherapy support is grounded in working within the child’s everyday environments, such as ECEC settings, where learning and movement naturally occur. The focus is on building the capability of key people - educators and families - through coaching, practical guidance and embedding recommended activities into daily routines and programs. Physiotherapists consider the physical environment, routines, equipment and available resources, identifying how these can be used or adapted to optimise each child’s participation. Careful observation of the child and educators, alongside close collaboration with families, helps identify both opportunities and challenges within the setting that may impact mobility and motor skill development. This collaborative approach informs tailored physiotherapy supports, including the type, frequency and duration of sessions, and ensures strategies are aligned with the child’s strengths, needs, preferences and functional goals.
