Description

Novita’s ‘Regulating Together’ program focuses on developing the regulation skills of preschoolers to support their emotional maturity. This focus of this program is to enhance play-based, teacher-led preschool programs by adding information and practical tools for educators to incorporate into the everyday environment and routines. The program combines structured information delivery sessions with follow up coaching and support sessions (in-person or via Telehealth). The inclusion of a pre-program observation enables the program to be tailored to the specific routines and activities of each preschool site, and a follow-up visit at the completion of the program supports long-term implementation. Expected outcomes for this program are:
  • to work collaboratively with educators to create an environment that supports regulation for all
  • to introduce tools and strategies that support regulation at a level that preschoolers are developmentally ready for and is inclusive of preschoolers with additional needs
  • for educators to feel comfortable recognising the sensory processing needs of students
  • for educators to feel confident incorporating regulation strategies into the daily routine of preschoolers.

How this is delivered

This 6-session program combines structured information delivery sessions with follow up coaching and support sessions (delivered in-person or via Telehealth). The sessions include pre-program observations which enable the programs to be tailored to the specific routines and activities of each preschool site, and a follow-up visit at the completion of the program to support long-term implementation.
  • session 1: 2-hour pre-program consultation and environmental observation session
  • session 2: 1.5-hour upskilling and knowledge building session focused on regulation and sensory processing
  • session 3: 1.5-hour coaching and support session in a pre-school setting to support the implementation of co-regulation and environmental supports
  • session 4: 1.5-hour upskilling and knowledge building session focused on environmental and transactional supports to aid regulation
  • session 5: 1.5-hour implementation coaching and support session in a pre-school setting to observe the implementation of supports and regulation strategies.
  • session 6: 1.5-hour post program evaluation and review.
