Description

Play Active is an evidence-based program designed to boost active play. It provides clear guidance on the amount of physical activity, sedentary time, and screen time children should have while attending early childhood education and care services. Play Active is the only program of its kind in Australia that provides evidence informed guidelines for you to ensure all children are getting enough active play throughout the day, every day. Energetic play nurtures healthy, happy children with strong bodies and brains, with improved behaviour and sleep. The program offers a service-tailored physical activity policy, free professional development and resources, and support to help you meet and exceed National Quality Standards. Play Active supports the provision of healthier, active environments for all children to grow and flourish. Expected outcomes for this program are:
  • integration of play based learning to enhance communication
  • ability to support gross and fine motor development
  • ability to implement strategies that encourage physical independence
  • ability to adapt environments to promote active play.
