Description

Available to Goodstart services only. This program covers how to assess all children’s communication skills and development, and plan their next learning steps. It also supports embedding effective teaching strategies to improve outcomes in early communication and language acquisition for babies and young children. This program is aimed to help you to:
  • understand key concepts of speech, language, and communication
  • use tools to assess and monitor the development of communication in children
  • enhance and enrich communication experiences
  • apply practical learning experiences to extend children's communication, language, and speech development.
Expected outcomes for this program are: For children: Improved language and communication skills For educators, improved:
  • understanding of language and communication development in early childhood
  • ability to implement strategies for promoting language development
  • ability to implement strategies to support communication.

How this is delivered

This program is delivered in-person over one full day (7.5 hours). Goodstart Early Learning services can access additional support through internally available online learning modules, communities of practice and the Teaching, Learning and Support team.

Cost

This program is delivered for $6,500 per centre. Travel and educator backfill is not included in the cost.
