Description

At I Can Jump Puddles, allied health professionals—including speech pathologists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, developmental educators, social workers, and early childhood educators—deliver support to children aged zero to 8 in preschools and other natural settings. Using a key worker model, we embed evidence-informed strategies into everyday routines to build inclusion, participation, and development. Our approach aligns with Early Childhood Intervention Best Practice Guidelines and is family-centred, strengths-based, and culturally responsive. We follow the 3Es framework:
  • Empower families and educators through coaching
  • provide Expert input across disciplines
  • embed strategies into the Everyday. Educator coaching includes observation, modelling, and joint problem-solving. Families are engaged to ensure consistent support across settings. Supports are available as Tier 1 (universal) and Tier 2 (targeted) interventions. They may be delivered in-person, online, or via hybrid delivery. Flexible and collaborative, our service integrates seamlessly with each preschool’s daily rhythm and goals. Expected outcomes for this support are:
  • Participation and independence: Children develop foundational skills in communication, motor coordination, and daily routines. Adults learn how to promote independence and adapt environments for active engagement
  • Emotional and social wellbeing: Children build resilience, emotional regulation, and relationship skills. Educators and family’s model and teach emotional and social development through play and daily activities
  • Communication and learning: Children improve speech, listening, and early literacy. Adults gain strategies to promote language and cognitive skills through play-based interactions
  • Collaborative support networks: Families and educators build confidence in understanding development, accessing practical tools, and working as a team across home and preschool settings. For more information on the program, visit: https://icanjumppuddles.com.au/preschool-boost/

How this is delivered

Our allied health professionals – including occupational therapists, speech pathologists, physiotherapists, social workers, developmental educators, and early childhood educators – work collaboratively with preschool staff to support children’s development in natural learning environments. Supports are embedded into everyday routines and play-based activities to ensure strategies are practical, inclusive, and sustainable. We focus on building the confidence and capacity of educators through coaching, modelling, and joint problem-solving. This enables educators to implement strategies that promote each child’s participation, independence, and wellbeing. By working together with families and educators, our team helps create consistent approaches across home and preschool, ensuring each child receives the support they need to thrive.
