Novita’s ‘Let’s Chat’ program has been developed to support communication at preschool for all children. The program is focused on embedding multi-modal communication tools and strategies into existing preschool routines and activities. In doing so, the program aims to increase participation and inclusion opportunities for all children, including children with speech and language disorder, children with disability or global developmental delay and children from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, thus reducing developmentally vulnerability.

Expected outcomes for this program are:

• To create a communication accessible preschool environment, which supports the use of multi-modal communication with all children.
• To build the knowledge, skills and confidence of preschool educators to use multi-modal communication strategies (key word sign and symbolic communication boards) during everyday interactions.
• To increase participation and inclusion opportunities at preschool and to support the communication development of all preschool children.

This 7-session program combines structured information delivery sessions with coaching and support sessions delivered in-person or online:

• session 1 includes 1 x 2-hour pre-program consultation and environmental observation
• session 2 includes 1 x 1.5-hour upskilling and knowledge building session
• session 3 includes 1 x 1.5-hour upskilling and knowledge building session
• session 4 includes 1 x 1.5-hour implementation coaching and support session
• session 5 includes 1 x 1.5-hour upskilling and knowledge building session
• session 6 includes 1 x 1.5-hour implementation coaching and support session
• session 7 includes 1 x 1.5-hour post program evaluation.

The program is delivered for $2,100. If travel is required, it will be charged at $107.50 per 30 minutes. Regional and remote location will incur a price loading rate on top of the above rates.
