Description
The Building Foundations for Early Learning program explores the latest research on early childhood brain development, the progression of language and literacy skills, and practical strategies to support brain development. You will gain confidence in selecting and creating literacy-rich environments that foster meaningful learning experiences and discover effective ways to work in partnership with families to enrich a child’s home learning environment. Content covered includes:
- an overview of current research on brain development in early childhood, particularly pertaining to language and literacy
- practical tips and modelling on planning and implementing an engaging story time session and creating literacy-rich environments
- strategies to guide families to engage in positive, and responsive interactions every day.
The program includes 1 Big Book for your service, as well as a toolkit containing 3 finger puppets and 3 picture books (including Little Book Press titles) to enhance your learning and implementation. These resources are seamlessly integrated into the workshop delivery, equipping you with tools to incorporate into your planning and curriculum, while also offering valuable assets to share with families after the session. Expected outcomes for this program are:
- increased understanding of current research on neurodevelopment, as well as language and literacy development in the early years
- develop strategies to increase language and literacy-rich daily practices to enhance language and literacy skills of young children
- develop practical ways to support book sharing and create a literacy-rich environment
- gain strategies and ideas in sharing information and key messages with families.
How this is delivered
This program is delivered as a 2.5-hour online workshop which includes a resource toolkit, a certificate of attendance, a copy of the slide deck, and a 12-month membership to the online learning group forum. This platform provides access to expert trainers from Raising Literacy Australia, who will share inquiry prompts, research insights, and practical strategies.
Cost
The program is delivered for $363.64 per person. A group online workshop is also available for a flat fee of $6,363.64. The group workshop must have a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 20 people. For in-person workshops please contact Raising Literacy Australia for a quote and more information.
