Description
TPAG offers group sessions focused on development across 4 key AEDC domains, with educator participation and observation, to support education and modelling for children, including time to individualise and tailor the program as needed.
Separate Educator and Parent/Caregiver upskilling can be delivered in 1 or 2 hour presentations. Targeted areas of the service align with Occupational Therapy, and the occupations children engage in, such as play and availability for learning, with a focus on gross and fine motor skills (physical health and wellbeing), social skills (social competence) and emotional regulation (emotional maturity).
Sessions are designed with an occupational therapy lens, to ensure meaningful engagement. A key difference of the service is that it is adaptable to meet the needs of the children in each group, for example, if a group needed more focus on emotional regulation, the program would be adjusted to provide further development of these skills, and activities can be graded up or down to meet the skill level of the children in the group. We can also offer tiered pricing dependent on session delivery by our OT or Allied Health Assistant (where available).
Expected outcomes for this support include:
- improved social interaction skills
- improved understanding and strategies for physical, emotional and social skills development
- engagement in routines, play and learning
- ability to understand & co-regulate own emotions
- growth in independence, resilience and coping skills
- development of fine and gross motor skills
- improved coordination
- improved independence skills and
- improved understanding and strategies for physical, emotional & social skills development, and to model and teach emotional regulation strategies and support co-regulation of emotions.
How this is delivered
Initial Assessment: Conducted by our qualified OT to collaborate and identify the specific requirements of the service partner. This can be completed online or in person.
Regular Sessions: Our program can be delivered in a group setting of up to 8 children per group, in 30-45 minute sessions delivered in person. We recommend weekly sessions over a term however, we will happily work to the requirements and needs of the service partner. Session can be delivered by our OTs, or Allied Health Assistant (as available).
Educator Upskilling: Educator coaching ensures that educators are upskilled so they can link the connective tissue between developmental milestones and how specific activities support children reaching AEDC domains prior to entering the school system. Coaching will grow understanding of why each activity is important to development, such as, creating regulating opportunities prior to starting an activity to ensure engagement.
Parent/caregiver Workshops: Education to ensure a holistic approach and continuity for children in all facets of their daily living, by ensuring the adults in their lives have the same knowledge and skills to support their development.
Educator and Parent/Caregiver upskilling can be delivered in 1 or 2 hour presentations, to be flexible.
