Description

Through a flexible range of services, Jayne McDonough OT for Riverland Kids will support these key areas:

  • Physical Health and Wellbeing: Children will demonstrate improved fine and gross motor skills, body awareness, postural control and sensory regulation. Educators and families will value their positive role in supporting children’s confidence, growth and participation.
  • Social Competence: Children will develop a strong sense of self and social awareness. Educators and families will value their significant role in children's social development.
  • Emotional Maturity: Children will feel emotionally seen by their family members and educators. Children will register their own feelings. Children will appropriately utilise the supportive relationships that surround them to develop coregulation and regulation of their emotions. Educators and families will support children's emotional development through their availability, presence, mindfulness, observations and attention.
  • Language and Cognitive Skills: Through the safe environment created by their families and educators, children will develop a strong sense of self which will strengthen their capacity to explore and learn.
  • Communication Skills and General Knowledge: Children will demonstrate increased confidence to communicate their needs, follow instructions, participate in shared conversations and learn. Educators and families will receive practical strategies to support children’s communication skills and general knowledge.

How this is delivered

Service delivery will be tailored to suit the needs of the ECEC, children and families. Type, duration, number and frequency of sessions will be determined in collaboration with the Educators /Leadership to clarify their identified needs or concerns and determine the best service delivery approach. Examples include Group based sessions – tailored to suit children’s needs. May be focused on developing imaginary play skills, social skills, motor development, cognitive skills, sensory processing and/or emotional regulation. Educator coaching / consultation– tailored to suit educators’ needs. May include identifying needs and working collaboratively to implement strategies to strengthen Educators understanding and confidence to support children’s emotional regulation, sensory processing and development across a range of skill areas. Family coaching or workshops – tailored to suit families’ needs. Working collaboratively to strengthen families understanding and confidence to support children’s emotional regulation, sensory processing and development across a range of skill areas.

Cost

This support is provided at a cost of $220 / hour (Ex GST). This hourly rate is charged for:

  • delivery of coaching, consultancy, training or small group programs
  • Planning and preparation and
  • written summary or evaluation reports.

Travel: travel outside of Loxton will be charged at a rate per kilometre - $0.99 per km. A charge for time spent travelling will also be charged at a rate of $105 per hour (excl GST).

Miscellaneous costs to be charged as appropriate.

Jayne’s attachment focused, inclusive, strengths based, capacity building and collaborative approach alongside families and educators supports children’s emotional regulation, sensory processing, fine motor, daily living and social skills. Jayne works collaboratively with ECEC service providers through coaching, modelling, acknowledging current strengths and opportunities for development.
