Description
At Occupational Therapy for Children (OTFC), we do occupational therapy differently. We bring a distinctly considered approach one that begins not with a program, but with a genuine understanding of your young people, your educators, and your setting. Our occupational therapists use play-based observations across the preschool cohort to identify shared strengths and common areas of need. What follows is co-designed, practically embedded support that builds capability at every level: child, educator, and family.
Expected outcomes include:
- improved social-emotional competence: regulation, peer interaction and coping with transitions
- strengthened attention, listening & cognitive skills supporting school readiness
- improved core strength, coordination & balance for participation in play and learning
- increased educator confidence to embed strategies into everyday practice and
- improved family understanding of child development, with practical strategies supporting home and preschool consistency.
How this is delivered
Our programs are designed to integrate into existing preschool routines.
- Small-group sessions: Structured, developmentally appropriate group programs targeting physical, social, emotional, and cognitive skills within the preschool environment.
- Play as the medium, not the method: Our therapists use play as the primary vehicle for therapeutic engagement, supporting children in a way that feels fun and meaningful, not clinical.
- Educator coaching and upskilling: Practical, hands-on professional development equipping educators to embed occupational therapy strategies into daily routines, transitions, and learning activities.
- Parent and caregiver workshops: Accessible, evidence-informed sessions that build family confidence, improve home-to-preschool continuity, and provide clear pathways to further support where needed.
- Implementation support: Practical resources and on-the-ground guidance ensuring strategies are sustainable beyond the program delivery period.
- Inclusive by design: Activities, environments, and resources are intentionally adapted to meet the diverse needs of each group.
This is tailored specifically to your needs and delivery can occur in-person, online, or hybrid as desired and required.
