Description
My Therapy House provides services focused on strengthening communication, engagement, and participation through everyday play, routines, and group experiences. Our educator training is delivered at a whole-of-service level and is designed to build educator confidence and capability in the AEDC Communication Skills and General Knowledge domain, with flow-on benefits for social participation, emotional regulation, and learning.
Our approach recognises that communication is shaped by relationships, regulation, culture, and lived experience, and that children communicate in many ways beyond spoken words. Our speech pathologists work alongside educators to build confidence and practical skills in supporting children’s communication, while also identifying barriers to communication and participation.
Educators are supported to embed practical, play-based communication strategies into everyday practice, strengthening communication across the whole service. This approach supports all children, including those who may be withdrawn, overwhelmed, or finding it difficult to join group experiences. We focus on how adults interact, wait, respond, and structure experiences to support communication, engagement, and participation.
Through group-based family workshops for up to 15 attendees, our Speech Pathology service supports parents and caregivers to develop a clearer understanding of how communication develops through play and everyday interactions.
Through practical, strengths-based information and discussion, families are supported to feel more confident in recognising and responding to their child’s communication within daily routines. This promotes greater consistency between home and preschool and fosters a shared understanding between families and educators.
My Therapy House Speech Pathology services support the AEDC Communication Skills and General Knowledge domain, with flow-on benefits for social participation, emotional regulation, and learning.
