This educator-focused program builds understanding and practical capability to create inclusive, neurodiversity-affirming learning environments for autistic and neurodivergent children. The program does not involve direct work with children rather, it strengthens educator knowledge, reflection, and practice.

Participants develop a foundational understanding of autism and the principles of neurodiversity, exploring strengths-based perspectives that move beyond deficit-based models. The program also examines sensory processing differences and how these can impact engagement, regulation, learning, and participation within early childhood settings.

Educators explore diverse forms of communication, including non-speaking communication, augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), and behaviour as communication. Core principles of Positive Behaviour Support are introduced, supporting educators to understand the function of behaviour and implement proactive, environmental and relational strategies.

Through group work, reflective discussion, and case studies, participants apply learning to real-world scenarios and their own settings. The overall aim is to equip educators with practical tools to design inclusive environments that promote belonging, participation, and wellbeing for all children.

This program strengthens inclusive practice in early childhood settings. Educators build knowledge of neurodiversity, sensory needs, multi-modal communication, and Positive Behaviour Support. Participants develop practical skills to adapt environments, support engagement and regulation, partner effectively with families, and implement evidence-informed strategies that promote inclusion, participation, wellbeing, and positive learning outcomes for all children.

• Pre-consultation session and classroom observation (1 hour): An initial consultation and observation session is undertaken to understand the learning environment, identify areas of need, and gather insights to inform a case study discussion that will be used during the workshops. This ensures the program content is tailored to the specific context of the service.
• Workshop 1 (1.5 hours): The first workshop introduces key concepts relating to inclusive practice, neurodiversity, and children’s diverse sensory and communication needs, establishing a shared understanding among educators.
• Workshop 2 (1.5 hours): The second workshop focuses on practical strategies and tools that educators can apply to support engagement, emotional regulation and participation within the learning environment.
• Workshop 3 (1.5 hours): The third workshop supports educators to embed strategies within their daily practice, including the application of strengths-based approaches and positive behaviour support principles.
• Follow-up implementation visit (1 hour): A follow-up session is conducted to review progress, provide feedback on the implementation.

This program is delivered for $1397. If travel is required, this will be charged based on location.
