Description

Sunshine Circles® is a structured, evidence-based educator up-skilling and group child support program grounded in Theraplay® principles. The program trains early childhood educators to facilitate adult-directed, play-based group sessions that build children’s social-emotional competence, self-regulation, and peer relationships through cooperative, nurturing activities.

The program comprises a 2-day (15-hour) face-to-face educator training, the Sunshine Circles Teacher Resource Manual, access to post-training group coaching session (and a professional pathway to certification for interested educators).

Trained educators then deliver daily or weekly 15 - 20 minute Sunshine Circles sessions directly with children in their classrooms, creating sustained, embedded practice rather than a one-off intervention.

Expected outcomes for this program are:

  • improved ability to lead nurturing, co-regulating activities that build felt safety and reduce anxious and aggressive behaviour
  • improved ability to use circle structure to develop sustained attention and regulated arousal
  • improved ability to embed cooperative activities that strengthen turn-taking, sharing and peer interaction and
  • improved ability to deliver a sustained program supporting emotional maturity and social competence.

How this is delivered

Educator training: 2-day face-to-face training (15 CPD hours) delivered by a certified Sunshine Circles trainer to groups of 18 - 36 educators. One-hour post-training group coaching session via Zoom (included in training package). Participant must attend both days to receive a certificate of completion.

Two training delivery options:

  • (1) Educators attend a public 2-day workshop at a scheduled location, or
  • (2) In-house delivery at the ECEC service for the whole team (18 participants).

Both options include all program components.

Public workshops (per person): early bird $908.18, standard $999.09 incl. full catering, manual, handouts, certificate, post-training Zoom coaching.
