Description

The program translates decades of attachment research into practical strategies educators can use to interpret behaviour, respond to children’s emotional needs and support the development of self-regulation within early childhood environments. Through a structured series of professional learning sessions, educators develop the capacity to recognise the emotional needs underlying children’s behaviour and respond in ways that promote connection, safety and co-regulation. This relational approach supports children to develop emotional regulation, social competence and increased engagement in learning. The program strengthens educator capability to support children experiencing behavioural, emotional or regulatory challenges while also improving the relational climate of the service. Circle of Security Classroom is designed for group delivery within early childhood education and care services and aligns strongly with Preschool Boost’s focus on reducing developmental vulnerability, particularly within the AEDC domain of Emotional Maturity.

The expected outcomes of Circle of Security Classroom include increased educator capacity to understand and respond to children’s attachment needs.

  • Increased understanding of attachment and emotional development
  • Greater confidence responding to challenging behaviour
  • Increased capacity to provide co-regulation
  • Improved reflective practice
