The Circle of Security® Classroom Approach is an internationally recognised, evidence-informed professional learning program for early childhood educators and leaders. Delivered by Family and Child Consultants, the program helps services build emotionally safe, responsive and inclusive learning environments through stronger educator-child relationships.

COSC supports educators to better understand children’s emotional needs, behaviour and attachment cues. Through guided reflection, video-based learning and practical discussion, participants build confidence to respond to children’s needs, support emotional regulation, manage conflict and strengthen trusting relationships across the service.

The program is delivered as 8 x 2-hour interactive group sessions, or as flexible delivery totalling 16 hours. Sessions can be delivered live online, in person or through a blended model, with up to 30 participants per cohort. Between-session reflection tasks and practical resources support educators to apply learning directly within their everyday practice.

Expected outcomes for this program are:

The COSC program is delivered by Family and Child Consultants as a structured, group-based professional learning program for early childhood educators and leaders.

The standard delivery model is 8 x 2-hour interactive sessions, totalling 16 hours of professional learning. Sessions can be delivered weekly, fortnightly, monthly or in a term-based schedule, depending on the needs and availability of the service.

Delivery options include:

• live online delivery
• in-person delivery and
• blended delivery combining online and in-person sessions.

Each cohort can include up to 30 participants. Sessions use video-based learning, guided reflection, facilitated discussion and practical application to help educators embed COSC concepts into everyday practice.

Between sessions, participants complete reflective tasks and are encouraged to apply strategies within their own early childhood setting. This supports real-world implementation, rather than one-off professional learning.

The program is delivered by trained COSC facilitators with experience in early childhood, trauma-informed practice, attachment theory and educator capacity building. Participants receive practical resources and a certificate of completion following full participation.

In-person delivery is available across South Australia. Travel costs may apply for regional or remote locations.

COSC costs $2,050 per service/cohort, plus $79 per participant, excluding GST. The full program includes 8 facilitated sessions, resources, feedback and implementation support for up to 30 participants. Travel beyond 25km from Adelaide CBD is charged at $193.99 per hour, round trip. No additional travel expenses are invoiced.
