Description

The Circle of Security ParentingTM program supports parents to:

  • understand their child’s emotional world by learning to read the emotional needs
  • support their child’s ability to successfully manage emotions
  • enhance the development of their child's self esteem and
  • honour their innate wisdom and desire for their child to be secure.

Jayne McDonough has experience running the Circle of Security ParentingTM program.

During a recent survey a parent shared: “Circle of Security is a truly incredible program and myself and my partner have learnt so much through participating in it. Our parenting is so much more informed now and we have a much stronger understanding of our daughters needs and how to identify them and manage our own emotions and reactions when supporting her in hers. Jayne is an outstanding facilitator and her approach to delivering the program was incredibly gentle, insightful and so rewarding. We couldn't be prouder with the overall quality of everything we experienced.”

Expected outcomes:

  • Emotional maturity: Parents strengthen their understanding of the importance of a secure relationship for children to be able to manage their emotions.
  • Parents become more sensitive and attuned to their child’s needs.
  • Children develop positive expectations of themselves and others. This will have a positive impact on children’s interactions and experiences in early childhood settings.

How this is delivered

The Circle of Security ParentingTM program is delivered by Jayne McDonough to small groups of up to 8 parents/carers across 8 to 9 x 90 minute sessions. The clips are of child–parent interactions, as well as of previous participants reflecting on what they learned about their own parenting from participation in the Circle of Security ParentingTM program. Parents/carers are also provided with handouts each week. At the end of the program parents received a Certificate of Completion.
