Description

Language Launchpad is a Tier 2 program that works alongside you to strengthen your confidence and capacity in supporting children's language and literacy development.

Delivered in partnership with a Speech Pathologist, the program combines practical knowledge building with a hands-on group program focused on language and pre-literacy skills. Groups are co-delivered with you and your Speech Pathologist, with everyday preschool routines at the heart of everything. Activities are carefully graded to enhance each child's success and celebrate their development.

Wherever possible, you are supported to take the lead in running groups, with guidance and feedback from your Speech Pathologist. This collaborative approach builds your skills so that meaningful language-rich practices become a sustainable part of your everyday program.

Children participating will need to meet group eligibility requirements, explored together during an initial site visit.

Goal setting and outcome measurement are built into the process. Using the Canadian Occupational Performance Measure (COPM), you will establish meaningful goals and rate them against importance, performance, and satisfaction at the start and end of the program.

Language Launchpad increases participation and inclusion for all children, including those with speech and language disorders, developmental delays or disability, and children from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

Expected Outcomes for Language Launchpad:

  • Further develop knowledge of evidence-based language and pre-literacy strategies to identify and support children requiring Tier 2 support.
  • Create opportunities to observe, practise and refine language strategies alongside Speech Pathologist through coaching and reflective feedback.
  • Strengthen capacity to partner with families and embed sustainable language practices into your everyday program.
