Description
Little Voices, Big Connections is a neurodiversity-affirming, play-based speech pathology program delivered within preschool settings to support children’s communication, social interaction and participation.
The program focuses on building functional communication skills in natural, meaningful contexts. Children are supported to develop expressive and receptive language, social communication, emotional vocabulary, and confidence engaging with peers. Rather than using structured, pull-out therapy, strategies are embedded into everyday routines such as play, group time, transitions, and shared book reading, allowing children to practise skills where they are most relevant.
Speech pathologists work alongside educators to model and scaffold communication strategies, including language expansion, turn-taking, and peer interaction support. A strong emphasis is placed on inclusive, multimodal communication, recognising and supporting all forms of communication, including gesture, visuals, and emerging language.
Educator coaching is a key component of the program. Educators are supported to build confidence in creating communication-rich environments and embedding strategies across the day, ensuring that children receive consistent, high-frequency opportunities to develop and use language.
Families are also supported through shared language and practical strategies that promote communication at home, strengthening consistency across environments.
