Description

Music Miracles provides children with a musical sensory experience that supports vestibular and proprioceptive processing. Using varied tempo, instruments, streamers and puppets the program strengthens cognitive development, attention, and emotional regulation. Rhythm, movement, and melodic patterns create an engaging, low pressure framework, for children and their educators to engage and play with music with us. The program acts as a continuous coaching cycle for educators as they participate alongside children. This integration ensures that the therapeutic benefits of music are not confined to a single session but are woven into the very fabric of the service's daily pedagogical practice. This facilitates ongoing capacity building, equipping educators to independently utilise music and movement to foster emotional regulation, social competence, and inclusive practices. By focusing on the primary Australian Early Development Census (AEDC) domain of Language and Cognitive Skills while strengthening secondary domains like Emotional Maturity and Physical Health, we transform classroom culture.

Expected outcomes for children include:
  • increased ability to follow instructions, sharing and turn taking
  • noticeable engagement in books and singing songs increasing literacy and numeracy skills
  • enhanced focus, coordination, and emotional maturity
  • social interaction skills and
  • increased ability to engage in routines.

Key Outcomes for Educators:

  • strengthened ability to promote language and literacy
  • improved skills for supporting diverse learning needs and
  • greater confidence in modelling emotional regulation and adapting active play environments.

How this is delivered

The Music Miracles program is a sequenced, evidence-based intervention spanning a suggested minimum of 2 school terms (6 months), though a 4-term duration is recommended to maximise long-term developmental outcomes. Delivered in-person by a trained teacher and therapeutic play facilitator from P.L.A.Y. With A Purpose, each weekly session runs for 40 to 45 minutes. This high-fidelity model ensures the therapeutic and educational impact of music and movement is fully realised.

The program also includes:

  • Post-Session Debriefs: A targeted, 5-minute debrief follows every session. Facilitators discuss specific objectives, highlight child responses, and offer practical strategies to integrate these musical concepts into the service’s daily play-based curriculum.
  • Digital Resource Pack: Services gain access to core songs, movement concepts, and activity outlines, empowering educators to confidently reinforce learning between weekly visits.
