Getting ready to launch | 1 July 2026

This e-bulletin is for our new partners preparing to deliver 3-year-old preschool in Term 3 2026 and Term 1 2027.

Nominations are open for the Flying Start Early Childhood Awards, recognising the people, services and partnerships making a real difference in the lives of South Australian children and families.

With 7 categories available, there is an opportunity to celebrate outstanding educators, teachers, leaders, services and collaborations from across the state.

Winners in each category will receive a $10,000 professional development grant supporting continued growth, learning and quality outcomes for children and families.

A poster promoting the Flying Start Early Childhood Awards has been distributed to all services across South Australia. We encourage you to display the poster and help spread the word throughout your service and community.

digital version of the poster (PDF 498 KB) is also available if you would like to print extra copies and your Local Team can provide extra A3 copies on request.

The Nomination Guidelines are also available to download, print and share with your community.

If you know an individual, service or partnership making difference, now is the time to nominate and help celebrate the very best of South Australia’s early childhood sector.

Mid-year partners will soon receive their welcome packs ready for day 1 of 3-year-old preschool for use in launch week, starting 20 July 2026. You will receive:

A Service welcome pack including:

  • 1 Flying Start social media selfie frame with instructions
  • 15 children's smocks (for use at your service)

Family welcome packs, including:

  • Branded Flying Start paper bag
  • Puzzle
  • Bucket hat
  • Sticker sheet
  • Magnet
  • Parent Like You Know It flyer

The Family welcome packs are based on enrolment numbers from your EOI and are one pack per enrolled 3-year-old child only.

These welcome packs are in addition to the Flying Start launch announcement pack you received several weeks ago, which included a tote bag, metal plaque, vinyl banner, Rocket Support magnet and A3 posters.

Your Local Team will be providing these to your service over the coming weeks.

2027 partners will receive their welcome packs next year ahead of Term 1.

Partner services must ensure they have signed Declaration and consent forms for new Term 3 2026 3- and 4-year-old preschool participants prior to submitting these enrolments as part of the Term 3 data submission.

This Term 3 data submission is for partner services currently delivering Flying Start preschool and covers the reference period of week 2 and 3.

The teaching and learning funding for preschool is provided per confirmed enrolment, which supports a greater investment in your service for the delivery of a quality, teacher-led preschool program.

See the Enrolment support pack and the checklist to help you make sure all eligible children in your service are enrolled in the preschool program.

Your Local Team is also available to support you in understanding your current and potential 3- and 4-year-old preschool program enrolments.

Three new online modules are now live on plink to accompany the Preschool Toolkit.

The Preschool Toolkit has been created by the OECD and Gowrie SA to help you deliver a high-quality preschool program with contemporary, evidence-based resources, tools and professional development.

The three new online modules are a deeper dive into:

  • being culturally responsive and inclusive
  • documenting and planning play-based learning
  • engaging with the Reflect. Respect. Relate resource.

Visit plink to access the new modules

The second round of Preschool Toolkit resources will launch soon. All new Flying Start partners will receive the first round of resources as well as the most recent materials.

These new resources will extend the learning in the following areas:

  • Being Me
  • Curriculum Design and Planning
  • Environments for Learning
  • Inclusion, diversity and cultural responsiveness
  • Leadership
  • Relationships
