Additional non-contact time

Partner Providers and Partner Services must provide ECTs delivering the preschool program with:

  • an additional 2 hours of non-contact time per week over and above the current relevant industrial award (currently, this means a total minimum of 4 hours per week)
  • 2 days of paid professional development per year over and above the current relevant industrial award.

The OECD reserves the right to increase this non-contact time or the number of professional development days in future, in response to changed industrial arrangements or market conditions, after consultation with the sector.

Non-contact time and professional development days are to be allocated to all teachers delivering a preschool program. The allocation can be pro-rata based on the fraction of time the teacher is employed to deliver the program.
