Description

Professional learning to support early childhood educators in building children's communication skills in the early years setting.Courses include:Building children’s storytelling, sequencing, and comprehension skills through everyday play and interactions. Educators will explore how these foundational language skills develop in the preschool years and why they are essential for later literacy, learning, and social communication.Supporting early childhood educators to build confidence in implementing neuro-affirming practices within their everyday environments. Grounded in evidence-based and play-based approaches, the session focuses on strengthening connection, supporting regulation, and fostering genuine inclusion across the centre.Supporting educators to better understand the foundations of regulation and co-regulation, recognising behaviour as communication, and responding in ways that are respectful, responsive, and developmentally appropriate. Educators will also gain strategies and resources to support communication development, social participation, and emotional understanding in young children, aligning with a whole-centre approach.Building the foundational skills for early literacy through rich oral language experiences and playful exploration of sounds. Educators will learn how everyday interactions, conversations, and play-based learning opportunities can be used to strengthen children’s vocabulary, sentence structure, and understanding of language.Strengthening preschool children’s social understanding, flexibility, and shared attention through play-based strategies, while also supporting early executive functioning skills such as working memory, self-control, and cognitive flexibility. Educators will explore how play can promote social problem-solving, turn-taking, perspective-taking, and adapting to change.Supporting preschool children to develop emotional literacy skills and build the foundations for emotional regulation. Programs can be delivered to a group of educators either face to face or online. Face to face is recommended.

Cost

An initial consultation to discuss and tailor the program to your needs is charged at $250 per hour. Ongoing costs will be discussed following this. Pricing will vary based on the number of hours of service. Sunny Day Speech Academy will provide a tailored scope and seperate quotation for each engagement with a service. Where travel is required, it will be charged at a rate of $193.99 an hour.

Sunny Day Speech Academy was founded by two senior speech pathologists to fill a gap in access to education and support, particularly in the neurodiversity space. We provide practical, evidence-based workshops and resources that empower families and educators to support children’s communication, social, and developmental needs, building understanding, confidence, and better outcomes.
