Extra support for new Kadina childcare hub
A new long day care centre at Kadina will expand into an integrated early years hub, providing additional services and support for families and children across the Yorke Peninsula.
The integrated hub will bring together health, wellbeing and early education services to help provide children and families with the support they need in one place.
The Malinauskas Government is investing an additional $1 million in the project to enable Kadina Child Care Centre to deliver the extra services and programs. This brings the state’s contribution to $4.4 million for the $12 million centre, which is jointly funded through $5 million from the Commonwealth’s $1 billion Building Early Education Fund, $2.3 million from Coaxial and $300,000 from the Kadina Child Care Centre.
The Copper Coast Council is providing the land for the new hub. A sod turn today will mark the start of construction, with Kadina Child Care Centre set to relocate to a new and expanded site on Bute Road once the project is completed. The hub is expected to open in early 2028. The new facility will create an extra 109 places – boosting capacity to 162 early learning places – and help meet growing demand in the region. The hub will combine the Flying Start 3-year-old preschool, long day care, child health and development services, parenting programs and community co-designed supports.
An expanded preschool program of up to 30 hours per week will be provided to improve children’s learning and development outcomes. Additional facilities, including a community room, consulting rooms and meeting spaces, will support improved access to high-quality, evidence-informed services. The Malinauskas Government is establishing 20 integrated hubs across the state as part of our $1.9 billion Flying Start early childhood reforms. premier.sa.gov.au
