Placements play an essential role on the path to becoming qualified. Successful placements require positive engagement with students to ensure they are not left feeling overwhelmed. The right support and resources for students and services can assist achieving valuable placement experiences and avoid higher course attrition rates or graduates leaving the sector early.
The Placement Resources are a suite of new resources and professional development modules specifically designed for the Early Childhood sector.
The self-paced modules help you set up a successful placement, create a meaningful adult learning environment and foster psychological and cultural safety. The accompanying PDF resources cover topics such as the difference between coaching and mentoring, providing feedback for growth and setting clear expectations.
These resources will help you gain clarity, confidence, and the tools to create an environment where students can thrive.
There is an additional module aimed at students preparing for their placement. The module offers guidance on getting prepared, feeling confident, and walking in on day one ready to learn, connect, and contribute.
The Placement Resources can be found on Plink, via the plink log-in page.
There are 3 days of professional development for staff delivering the Flying Start 3-year-old preschool. The sessions will cover the following:
Day 1 sessions focus on reflection, planning and goal setting to deliver high quality 3-year-old preschool, including familiarisation with the Preschool Toolkit and how it can be used to support teams in their planning.
This content is available online for 3 sessions in February and March.
Day 2 sessions aim to enhance capability to lead and support change by applying systems thinking, pedagogical leadership and local partnerships. This will support practical actions to plan and sustain improvement in preschool settings and will include a deep dive on the Respect. Reflect. Relate resource. These sessions will be held in February, March and April and include some online options as well as in-person sessions in both metro Adelaide and regional South Australia.
Day 3 will be available in April and May to accompany the release of Tranche 2 of the Preschool Toolkit. This will include online days as well as metro and regional in-person options.
