Actions to drive change

Families are decision-makers.

Place-Based Self-Determination Funds

  • Phase 4 – Amplify Success
  • Co-design theme/s: Wider benefits to families; Accessibility and transport | Priority Reform alignment: 1

Locally governed funding pools will devolve decision-making authority to Communities in priority locations.

Communities will determine investment priorities within agreed parameters to strengthen early learning, Cultural initiatives, family engagement and service integration. Backbone governance and capability support will be provided by local or state-wide ACCOs, funded through the place-based budget allocation.

This initiative captures a broader range of place-based initiatives identified through co-design including transport and other locally specific potential priorities. The purpose is to strengthen early learning and child development through self-determined Community-led approaches, leveraging local assets, Cultural knowledge, leadership and understanding of local Community needs and priorities.

This initiative aims to:

  • advance family and Community decision-making
  • embed accountability to Aboriginal Communities
  • reduce barriers through locally led solutions; and
  • strengthen Community-owned evidence and impact.
