Ready Set Preschool

Ready Set Preschool funding (previously known as ‘Outreach funding’) is available to eligible partner services delivering preschool in SEIFA 1 and 2 communities, and services participating in Preschool Plus.

The Ready Set Preschool program is focused on improving preschool attendance, increasing enrolments and reducing barriers to preschool participation.

Ready Set Preschool funding is discretionary and must be used in accordance with the Policy and Funding Guide.

If you are eligible for Ready Set Preschool funding this must be included in your Flying Start Partnership Plan.

About the program

Ready Set Preschool funding supports preschool participation through two funding streams:

Indirect cost reduction funding helps address practical barriers that make it harder for children and families to attend preschool. This includes barriers associated with:

  • food security
  • transport
  • access to essential items
  • other circumstances that may impact a child's ability to participate in preschool

See Funding categories and examples for more details.

Services have flexibility to design Community Connection activities which respond to local needs and barriers affecting attendance, participation and enrolment.

These activities help build trust and connection with families, raise awareness of the benefits of preschool and support participation of priority cohorts.

See Funding categories and examples for more details.

Preschool Plus funding

For services in SEIFA 1 and 2 communities who are also eligible to receive Preschool Plus funding, this should be considered alongside your Ready Set Preschool funding through a single Flying Start Partnership Plan.
